About Us

Nakato Japanese Restaurant has been a Charlotte tradition since 1976. It was the first restaurant in the area to offer wonderful meals prepared by expert Hibachi Chefs in the traditional Japanese style of Teppan-Yaki.

When the Nakato family first began serving this area, the restaurant was located across from the old Charlotte Coliseum on Independence Boulevard. Nakato Restaurant moved to it's current Pineville-Matthews Road location in 1990. After the move, Nakato's was delighted to begin offering sushi to it's customers at the unique "Floating Sushi Bar."

In 1995 the Nakato family was happy to venture off a bit and open a restaurant in Springfield, Missouri. Once again Nakato's was the first of its kind in the area and the people of Springfield were delighted to be introduced to Japanese Teppan Yaki and Sushi.

Nakato Restaurant has been a family owned restaurant for over 30 years. The Nakato family strives to offer delicious meals that the customers enjoy and we hope they come back for more.
